20th Rural Masonry Training concluded at Katakuti VDC, Dolakha
Twentieth rural masonry training has concluded at Katakuti VDC, Dolakha. This time 34 male masons of Katakuti VDC participated 7 Days Mason Training Program with the objective of learning the new techniques for building the safer houses at rural area.
This is the second mason training at Katakuti VDC. Earlier training organized in June had trained 31 local masons of VDC. With the completion of 20th rural masonry training at Katakuti VDC, the trained mason has reached 608 at Dolakha District.
Among the 1301 households at VDC, almost all the houses were destroyed by the last year earthquake. Till now not more than 100 houses are built and very few houses are under construction at Katakuti VDC. This is the second training at Katakuti VDC. Baliyo Ghar team has conducted the earlier mason training in June, where 31 masons were trained.
The training course has been jointly organized by Department of Building Construction and Urban Development (DUDBC), Division Office, Dolakha and National Society for Earthquake Technology - Nepal (NSET) in collaboration with Katakuti VDC and with funding support from United States Agency for International Development (USAID).
USAID funded #BaliyoGhar program is an initiative to support the Government of Nepal’s model of owner-driven housing reconstruction following the Gorkha Earthquake. NSET is providing technical assistance to 13 VDCs and 1 Municipality in Dolakha district for safe reconstruction through #BaliyoGhar Program.
