03 Bn NDRF hosts MFR Course in India
National Society for Earthquake Technology - Nepal (NSET) in collaboration with National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) India is conducting Medical First Responder (MFR) Course at 03 Battalion NDRF from November 22 to December 4, 2016. This is the first training activity in India under the Program for Enhancement of Emergency Response (PEER) Stage 4 (2014-1019). There are 21 NDRF personnel from different battalions of NDRF participating in the course. The instructor's team is comprised of instructors and assistant instructors from NDRF and 4 paramilitary forces of India namely: Border Security Force (BSF), Central Industrial Security Force (CISF), Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) and Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF). A senior PEER-certified regional instructor from Nepal Police has been assigned as Monitor to this course, for ensuring quality control and upholding PEER course and program standards. The participants to this MFR Course are expected to undertake also the Collapsed Structure Search and Rescue (CSSR) Course, under the same program.
PEER is a regional training program funded by the Office of U.S. Foreign Disaster Assistance (OFDA) of the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) since 1998. PEER Stage 4 is being implemented by NSET in Bangladesh, India, Nepal and Pakistan.
