National Society for Earthquake Technology-Nepal (NSET) is working for Disaster Resilient Communities in Nepal since 1994. NSET seeks applications for the following positions from eligible candidates for the program “Institutional Capacity Strengthening for Safe Schools and climate change mitigation and adaptation action in Nepal” funded by UNICEF:

Position: Consultant (CSS/ Climate Change and Green Schools)
No. of Positions: 1
Work Station: Kathmandu
Appointment Type: Short term for 6 months with possibility of extension
Required Qualification: Master's degree in development studies, climate science, environmental science, engineering, or a related discipline.
Experience : Minimum 5 years
Language: Nepali and English in speaking, reading, and writing are required
Preferable: Candidate from disadvantage group and women are encouraged to apply.

Skills and abilities required:

i. An understanding of climate change mitigation and adaptation strategies, including renewable energy, sustainable agriculture, carbon pricing, and other relevant topics.
ii. Prior experience of working in school safety, green schools
iii. Good communication skills to effectively convey complex climate-related information to a broader audience.
iv. Have experience working with government agencies.

Main Responsibilities:

i. Review of existing Comprehensive Schools Safety Global Framework, Comprehensive Schools Safety Master Plan, Comprehensive Schools Safety Minimum Package, CSS Implementation guidelines, CSS Communication and Dissemination Strategy.
ii. Review of existing Green Schools Guidelines, Resource book and international practices regarding green schools.
iii. Update the comprehensive school safety master plan and associated documents and green school guidelines.
iv. Ensure that CSS framework, CSSMP guideline, and CSS training resource material include climate-resilient education.
v. Development of orientation and training curriculum materials based on the updated CSSMP and Green Schools Guideline.
vi. Facilitate the co-creation workshop and co-creation of Knowledge on CSS and Green School Guidelines (Through Meetings and Workshops).
vii. Liaison with Governments officials from MOEST and CEHRD and relevant partner organizations to update the guidelines.
viii. Working with the Thematic working groups and education cluster. ix. Participate and facilitate federal level workshop on CSSMP and Green School Guidelines.
