National Society for Earthquake Technology-Nepal (NSET) is implementing “Strengthening Disaster Risk Management Systems for Resilience in Southern Nepal” “UTTHAN” program with the funding support from USAID/BHA.  The main objective is to strengthen the disaster risk governance and capacities of the provincial and local level and make them self-reliant at the highly-disaster prone areas in southern Nepal. NSET seeks applications for the following positions from eligible candidates:

1.Position: Disaster Risk Management (DRM) Officer
No.of Positions: One
Appointment Type: Full Time for one year with possibility of extension
Required Qualification: Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or master’s degree in 
Disaster Risk Management or related subject
Experience: Minimum 1-year experience in similar field
Location: Madhesh Province
Language required: English, Nepali and other local languages are preferable contextual to the Madhesh Province

Main Responsibilities:
• Support for Setting up Project Coordination Mechanism at provincial and local level
• Support Provincial and Local Levels for development of required risk management policies, plans, guidelines, SOPs and Standards 
• Review/update/develop tools and guidelines for hazard, vulnerability and risk assessment at local levels
• Support to conduct hazard risk assessment and planning at provincial and local level
• Support for developing Risk Sensitive Land Use Plan (RSLUP) Implementation Guidelines and formulate RSLUPs
• Support to develop a volunteer development system and mobilization mechanism at province and local level
• Technical support and capacity building program for government agencies 
• Support for organizing public awareness campaign
• Support for pre-positioning emergency supplies
• Strengthening existing Early Warning Systems and support for conducing community evacuation drills 
• Performing other duties as assigned

2. Position:  Social Development Officer
No. of Positions: One
Appointment Type: Full Time for one year with possibility of extension
Required Qualification: Bachelor’s degree in Humanities/Sociology/Geography/Environmental Science/Public Health or related subject
Experience: Minimum 1-year experience in similar field
Location: Madhesh Province
Language required: English, Nepali and other local languages are preferable contextual to the Madhesh Province
