Views from Frontline
Supporting Agency: GNDRViews from the Frontline, an initiative of Global Network for Disaster Reduction (GNDR), is the largest independent global review of disaster risk reduction at the local level. It aims to strengthen the inclusion and collaboration between at- risk people, civil society and governments in the design and implementation of policies and practices to reduce risks and strengthen resilience.
Views from the Frontline (VFL) 2019 aims to strengthen the inclusion and collaboration between at- risk people, civil society and governments in the design and implementation of policies and practices to reduce risks and strengthen resilience. This is done by measuring and directly implementing actions to support progress towards achieving an inclusive ‘people centred’ approach to resilience-building. All the global development frameworks refer to the importance of including local actors; however, this is not monitored in the targets of global the frameworks. VFL 2019 therefore fills this gap by providing complimentary monitoring, baseline and data to help guide actors to more effectively achieve the targets of the post- 2015 development frameworks, especially the SFDRR, strengthening the accountability of governments, intergovernmental agencies and all other stakeholders to local communities and their resilience priorities.
Supported by Global Network for Disaster Reduction (GNDR), NSET is implementing VFL2019 in 15 communities of 5 provinces in Nepal during 2019-2021.
The project aims:
• Monitoring the impact of Disaster Risk Reduction Initiatives from civil society prospect.
• Support 15 communities with small scale mitigation activities up to US $ 1,000 each.
NSET is serving as the National Coordinating Organization for implementing the VFL 2019 in Nepal. Forum for Awareness and Youth Activity (FAYA), Fulvari Integrated Rural Development Organization (FIRDO), Friends Service Council Nepal (FSCN) and Nava Prabhat Nepal are the four POs supporting the implementation of the program.
