Vulnerability Capacity Assessment Training held in Thankot
Thankot VDC conducted a three-day Vulnerability Capacity Assessment Training program from 26 to 28 July 2014. The training was based on the Local Disaster Risk Management Planning (LDRMP) Guideline - 2068. The National Society for Earthquake Technology - Nepal (NSET) provided technical support and USAID provided financial support.
On the first day, there were 42 participants in total, which included VDC politicians, intellectuals, social workers, representatives of the tole development committees and VDC officials. The Secretary of Thankot VDC, Mr. Jit Bahadur KC, inaugurated the program. A total 24 participants, selected from DRMC and ward representatives were present on the second and third days of the training.
The training program covered disaster terminology, the disaster management cycle, Vulnerability Capacity Assessment (VCA), VCA fieldwork, community-based disaster risk management planning and disaster response exercises.
During the closing ceremony of the program, the Secretary of the VDC thanked all the participants for their active participation. He also expressed heartfelt gratitude to the NSET professionals for their presence and hard work. Finally, he made a commitment to move forward with the important work of the Thankot Disaster Risk Management Committee (DRMC).
