Community awareness on Earthquake Risk Reduction and Preparedness activities
In the presence of the Honorary Lieutenant-General Dr. Yadav Bahadur Rayamajhi and the members of the “Ichchhumati Upavokta Samitee” an awareness presentation on Earthquake, Earthquake Risk Reduction and Earthquake Preparedness was organized on Saturday, 3rd January, 2015 at Sunrise (Baluwatar) Catering & Party Palace, Baluwatar, Kathmandu.
The entire presentation was basically divided into two major portions including Earthquake Risk Reduction and Earthquake Preparedness, covered by NSET presenters, Mr. Anil Upadhayay, Sr. Media Officer and Mr. Amit Kumar Shrestha, PPP-Specialist respectively. The participants were specially informed to focus on earthquake preparedness in personal and community level rather than panicking by listening to the risks posed by uncertain but inevitable earthquake hazard. With a small tea-break midway, there was a 15 minutes Question-Answer session towards the end of the session. Mr. Anil Upadhayay also demonstrated earthquake safe behavior i.e. “Drop, Cover & Hold On” technique to the entire participants.
The program was arranged by Mr. Krishna Rayamajhi, Managing Director, Nepal CRS Company with technical coordination from the National Society for Earthquake Technology-Nepal (NSET). The nearly three-hour presentation (11:30AM – 2:30AM) was well received by over hundred participants for a chilly Saturday afternoon.
