“ Orientation on Earthquake resistant and reconstruction technique “
An orientation program on “Earthquake Resistant and Reconstruction Technique” was organized on wednesday 1st July, 2015 at Astha Party Palace, Thali, Kathmandu.The programme was organized by kageshwari manohara municipality in support of NSET-NEPAL.The Orientation was conducted to the various people from different sectors like government bodies, private sectors, masons and local people of kageshwari manohara municipality.
Basically , The motive of the program was to answer the post earthquake quaries of the participants and enhance the further awareness related to preparedness,construction and reconstruction techniques . The entire Session was basically divided into two portions.
The first portion of the session was more formal and it started with a very warm,wise and motivational words from the Rameswor Phuyal ( member of 2nd Nepalese constituent assembly), Deepak Prasad Kuikel (member of 2nd Nepalese constituent assembly ) and various representatives from different political parties.
The Second portion of the session was conducted by Mr. Gopi Krishna Basyal, Geographer/Urban planner and Mr. Pradip Thapa, Civil Engineer respectively. Total of 22 guests (1 female and 21 male ) and 108 (85 male and 23 female ) participants were present in the programme and were actively participating with their list of quaries related to earthquake,aftershocks, safe construction, repair and retrofitting etc. NSET facilitators answered briefly on the quaries encounterd and enlighten them with the procedure for earthquake resistant buildings and repair works.
The programme was concluded with the final words from the Purushottam Adhikari, Executive officer of kageshwari-manohara municipality , addressing the need of skill manpower in the municipality for massive repair and reconstruction work after earthquake and adjourned the programme by sharing the information regarding the masons training starting from 2nd july, 2015.
