Capacity Building activities implemented in Kalikot, teachers and students trained on DRR/CCA facets
District Level 7 days training to school teachers and students on "School based Disaster Risk Reduction and Climate Change Adaptation (DRR/CCA) has been kicked out in Humla district. In the leadership of District Education Office, Humla, through the support from UNICEF and National Society for Earthquake Technology-Nepal (NSET), the residential training to the 30 students and teachers was conducted in Mansarowar Hotel, Simikot, Humla from 14th to 20th September, 2015. The program was successful in enhancing the capacity of the teachers and students in Emergency Preparedness and Response, Vulnerability Capacity Assessment (VCA), Community Light Search and Rescue (CLSAR), First Aid and Climate Change Adaption. Five Schools from Simikot, Lali, Bargaun and Dandafaya VDCs have participated in the training.
District Education Officer, Dharmajit Shahi inaugurate the training, welcoming all the participants and suggest to learn as much as you can from 7-days training and become the capacity in DRR and CCA sector of Humla as well as Nepal. Assistant District Education Officer, Bishnu Bahadur Shahi committed to mainstream the DRR and CCA components in regular activities of DEO, Humla and include trained participants as a key personnel for school level Disaster Risk Management in future.
