CSAR (Community Search and Rescue) and DAT (Damage Assessment Training)
The INSTRUCTORS DEVELOPMENT TRAINING (CSAR-1001 and DAT-1001) organized by UNDSS (United Nations Department of Safety And Security) with technical support from NSET (National Society for Earthquake Technology-Nepal) successfully ran thru 6 - 9 October, 2015.
Altogether, twenty four participants (UNDSS staff; 7 Female & 17 Male) from Nepal and Bangladesh took part in this four days training. The training aimed to develop instructors for community or institutional level search and rescue capacity building as well as basic skills of damage assessment. In addition to emergency response, team management and leadership skills, the participants cited the training to be greatly useful in capacity building of communities, institutions or organizations of various shave and sizes.
On the final day, towards the closure of the program, the course coordinator Ganesh Kumar Jimee emphasized the apt implementation of the knowledge and skill gained from this training during a disaster situation. He also highlighted the interrelatedness of the training-learnings and various emergency response activities on the field amid the recent GORKHA EARTHQUAKE in Nepal.
