Awareness Program conducted for community people in Gandakot
As a part of NSET's Building Code Implementation Program in Municipalities of Nepal (BCIPN), Awareness Program for community people living in Gaindakot Municipality has begun since 19th Feb, 2016. The program is planned to provide earthquake related awareness to local people of Gaindakot. Two segments were planned during these programs mainly focusing on Earthquake Risk Mitigation and Building Permit Process at Gaindakot Municipality. On 19th Feb, 2016, with collaboration with the Gaindakot Municipality, two awareness programs were conducted where a total of 41 males and 37 females took active participation.
NSET Engineer, Mr. Deependra Subedi took over the floor set by municipal representative Laxmi Prasad Soti, where he briefly introduced NSET and BCIPN, and the main objectives of the program. Mr. Subedi, then, delivered the cause and effects of earthquakes, origin and essence of Building Code in Nepal, importance of its implementation, and the major elements of RC frame structure in building code. Later, Municipality representative, Mr. Laxmi Prasad Soti discussed on non-structural risk mitigation and earthquake preparedness, building permit provisions and procedures of the municipality.
Second edition was conducted at Namuna Higher Secondary School, Science faculty building. This program also progressed with similar proceedings as the earlier one.
