BALIYOGHAR: SEVENTH MASON TRAINING HELD IN NILKANTHA MUNICIPALITY, DHADING

One more mason training now undergoing in Nilkantha Municipality-2, Bhulbhulle, Dhading. Altogether 32 participants including one female having work experience in rural construction are adding knowledge and skills on earthquake resistant construction techniques. The 7-Day course intends to enhance technical skills of construction actors and use that locally for the safer re/construction.

This is the seventh episode of mason training series conducted jointly by Department of Urban Development and Building Construction (DUDBC)-Dhading, Nilkantha Municipality and National Society for Earthquake Technology (NSET-Nepal) under the program BaliyoGhar with the funding support from United States Agency for International Development (USAID/Nepal).

Even after the long hiatus of few masons on building construction activities, they are so much enthusiastic and aspire to be trained one and put forward their hands to support safe reconstruction program. Ms. Sabitri Gurung had question to organizing team earlier whether she could join in the training or not. She expressed her happiness for the opportunity. Another participant Gyan Bahadur Gurung said, “we know almost everything in the field of building construction however, we joined this training to know how earthquake resisting elements can be effectively placed.” Also, pointing the house which was not damaged by Gorkha Eartquake, Tika Narayan Shrestha stressed that there must be something hidden elements in that house so that the house is still upright.

BhulBhulle is one of the most affected area of Dhading district where almost 95% houses were flattened by last year’s disastrous tremor. Rebuilding is a huge challenge in the localities which is not much progressing.
