Baliyo Ghar-Team Dolakha accomplished 3 MTs in last week of July
Baliyo Ghar Team Dolakha has accomplished 3 Mason Trainings (MT) in last week of July, 2016. 10th, 11th and 12th mason training are completed within a week in which 10th RCC Masonry training was conducted at Bhimeshwor Municipality, 11th Stone Masonry Training at Lamidada VDC and 12th at Chyama VDC.
With the completion of these trainings, the total number of trained masons reached 351 at Dolakha District. Among them 5 women masons have been added from the last 3 trainings.
In closing ceremony of 12th MT at Chyama, Mr. Arjun Panthi, VDC secretary of Chyama, thanked the Baliyo Ghar team for organizing the training program and he suggested the trained masons to act as role model in safer housing reconstruction. Mr. Ranjan Dhungel, Program Manager of NSET-Baliyo Ghar said, "We are here to provide the technical assistance for the community people for safer housing reconstruction. We would like to assure that the technical team will be available at any time and place needed."
One of the participants, Mr. Rohit Phuyal shared, "We are very happy and feel quenched with this training which has enhanced different skills for earthquake resistance building construction and we will definitely try to implement the possible methods to build safer houses at our VDC."
11th Mason training was concluded in presence of Pramod Shah, DUDBC Engineer of Lamidanda VDC who requested the trained masons to get involved in the reconstruction work applying the skills they have learnt.
The training was jointly organized by Department of Building Construction and Urban Development (DUDBC), Division Office, Dolakha and National Society for Earthquake Technology - Nepal (NSET) in collaboration with respective VDC and Municipality and with funding support from United States Agency for International Development (USAID).
USAID funded #BaliyoGhar program is an initiative to support the Government of Nepal’s model of owner-driven housing reconstruction following the Gorkha Earthquake. NSET is providing technical assistance to 13 VDCs and 1 Municipality in Dolakha district for safe reconstruction through #BaliyoGhar Program.
