Eastern Regional Workshop of District Education Officers on Comprehensive School Safety (CSS) held Biratnagar, Morang
The third episode of 2 days Capacity Building Workshop of District Education Officers (DEOs) was organized in Biratnagar from 14-15 December 2016 under the program partnership led by Department of Education (DoE), supported by UNICEF and NSET. The major objective of the workshop is to build capacity of the DEOs to incorporate Disaster Risk Reduction/Climate Change Adaptation (DRR/CCA) and CSS in District Education Plan and School Improvement Plan (SIP). Dr. Dilliram Rimal, Joint Secretary of the Ministry of Education inaugurated the workshop.
Other dignitaries present were the Director and Deputy Director of the Department of Education, representatives from UNICEF Nepal and Eastern Region District officials. A total of 38 participants (37 male participants and 1 female participants) including District Education Officers and DRR Focal persons of the 15 districts falling in Eastern Region Education Directorate attended the workshop.
During the inaugural speech, the Joint Secretary of the Ministry of Education Dr. Dilliram Rimal emphasized the need to make schools hazard resilient and ensure that the children are able to receive education in a safe and peaceful environment.
