Learning and Sharing Workshop on OJT held in Dolakha
One day workshop to share the learnings of On-the Job Training (OJT) has been held in Charikot, Dolakha under Baliyo Ghar Program on 5th of July 2018. In presence of Mayor of Bhimeshwor Municipality, Mr. Bharat KC and NRA-Dolakha Chief, Mr. NirmalDarsan Acharya, participants discussed the achievements, challenges faced, lessons learnt and needs improvement issues of OJT that was implemented in Dolakha under Baliyo Ghar Program’s regular activities and with support from Training Center Nepal (TCN).
The workshop was organized to acquire learnings from implementer’s involvement in grass root level and do determine how supportive was OJT in reconstruction process and to get input from participants (professionals/stakeholders involved during the implementation of OJT), which will help in standardization of curriculum development and implementation strategy of OJT. The participants deeply discussed the ideas to find out the way to involve trained mason from OJT in current reconstruction and after the reconstruction campaign is over too.
Speaking at the workshop, Mr. Bharat KC urged reconstruction actors to look to the future and how to provide technical assistance after the reconstruction campaign is over. “There are chances of expanding the houses with annexes and adding the upper floors after the households receive the 3rd tranche of government grant, hence to ensure the safety of annexes and other structures, organizations like NSET should give serious consideration to how technical assistance can and should continue in the longer term”, Mr. KC said.
The workshop was organized after the completion of OJT activities implemented through TCN, implementing partner of NSET in Dolakha. TCN has completed 232 OJTs producing 1392 new masons who are now involved in reconstruction activities.
OJT surge is being implemented in all ward of previous VDCs and municipalities of Dolakha, Dhading and Nuwakot district. Training Center Nepal Pvt. Ltd. (TCN) as a Training Service Provider (TSP) is implementing 460 OJT sites to develop 2760 new masons at Dhading and Dolakha districts. Similarly, Trade Link Pvt. Ltd. implementing 207 OJT sites at Nuwakot to develop 1242 new masons. Mobile Teams of Baliyo Ghar Program are implementing the OJT at Baliyo Ghar program focused areas.
