Disaster Resilient Communities in Nepal by 2050

NSET AGM concludes with discussion over working approach in the context of federalization


The National Society for Earthquake Technology-Nepal (NSET) held its 25th Annual General Meeting (AGM) on September 26, 2018.
  
NSET General Secretary, Dr. Amod Mani Dixit presented Progress Report on NSET’s 25 years’ achievements with main focus on past one year, its completed programs and ongoing programs, challenges and way forward. Dr. Dixit acknowledged the tremendous role that NSET played in past 25 years of its journey of Disaster/Earthquake Risk Management, Preparedness and Reconstruction in Nepal. Highlighting the NSET’s long term strategy, vision and its recognition from international and local communities for the reducing risks of earthquake, he also pointed out the challenges NSET may face specifically in the context of federalization of country.

On the occasion, the Treasurer of NSET Executive Board, Mr. Yogeshwor Krishna Parajuli submitted Financial Statements of the organization including Auditor’s Reports for the last Fiscal Year.

The AGM was held under the chairmanship of Mr. Manohar Rajbhandari, the senior most member of NSET Management Board owing to absence of President of NSET, Mr. Varun Prasad Shrestha. President Shrestha, who is currently in USA, however, addressed the AGM via skype. On the occasion, Mr. President appreciated NSET efforts in past 25 years.

Total 26 respective general/life members including Management Board Members attended the AGM 2018.

The General Meeting unanimously endorsed both the Reports of General Secretary and Treasurer. The AGM also appointed new Auditing Firm for next Fiscal Year and approved the auditing charge.  

Concluding the AGM, President Shrestha thanked NSET Life/General Members and its Staff via Skype for all the continuous efforts in past 25 years’ journey to make resilient communities in Nepal.
