Coordination Meeting with elected representatives from Dolakha and Bhimeshwar Municipality held at NSET
A coordination and discussion meeting with elected representatives and officials of Dolakha and Bhimeshwar Municipality was conducted on 24th November 2018 at Shree Hall, NSET. The meeting was graced by the presence of Hon. Pashupati Chaulagain, Member of Parliament of Provincial Assembly of Province No. 3, Mayor of Bhimeshwar Municipality, Mr. Bharat KC, Ward Chairperson of Bhimeshwar-3, Mr. Haribansha Chaulagain, Engineer of Bhimeshwar Municipality Mr. Suresh Raut and Mr. Ram Krishna KC were present in the meeting. The agenda of the meeting was to discuss upon NSET’s programs that have been and are being implemented in Bhimeshwar Municipality and to discuss on the mutual coordination in ongoing projects, especially in Urban Regeneration of Dwalkha and Integrated Settlements being planned by the Municipality. The meeting was facilitated by Mr. Surya Narayan Shrestha, Executive Director, Mr. Surya Bhakta Sangacche, Senior Technical Advisor, Mr. Suman Pradhan, Program Manager TSBCIN and Mr. Ayush Baskota, Engineer Baliyo Ghar Program.
The meeting was also joined in by Mr. Sushil Gyewali, CEO of National Reconstruction Authority (NRA) in the later half. Representatives from USAID were also present in the meeting, namely Ms. Stephanie Wilcock, Director of DR4 Office of the USAID and Mr. Mohammad Khan, Dy. Director.
The guests from Dolakha appreciated the continued support being provided by NSET through its various programs. CEO Mr. Gyewali highlighted the NRA’s policies and guidelines regarding the reconstruction and regeneration of traditional heritage settlements all over the earthquake affected districts and assured that NRA would provide all the required financial and technical support as promulgated in the Acts to facilitate for the expedition of the process. He urged the elected representatives to work towards convincing the community and gathering their feedback to make the designs and plans readily acceptable.
The meeting concluded with the following decisions.
1. Create a task team with professionals from Bhimeshwar Municipality and NSET to prepare a comprehensive action plan for the Urban Regeneration of Dwalka bazaar, a traditional heritage settlement in Bhimeshwar Municipality and present it to the National Reconstruction Authority for approval and further technical and financial support.
2. NSET will provide all the necessary technical support for the continuation of reconstruction and urban regeneration projects in Dwalkha as requested by the Municipality through its programs.
