A 5-Day Online Training on "Basics of Earthquake Resistant Design and Construction of Buildings" has begun
A 5-Day online training course for fresher engineers on "Basics of Earthquake Resistant Design and Construction of Buildings" has begun organized by Nepal Engineers’ Association (NEA) Bagmati Province, Professional Security and Capacity Building Committee with technical support from NSET. The course runs from 25-29 May 2020, two hours each day.
At the opening of the course, NEA President Prof. Dr. Tri Ratna Bajracharya appreciated NEA Bagmati Province, Professional Security and Capacity Building Committee for taking worth initiative of developing capacity of young engineers in this difficult time of COVID-19 pandemic.
NSET Executive Director Mr. Surya Narayan Shrestha highlighted the importance of collaboration between NEA and NSET together with other stakeholders to contribute in the areas of promoting earthquake safety.
NEA General Secretary Mr. Chhabi Raj Pokhrel briefed on initiatives of engineering communities led by NEA to respond to pandemic situation.
The mode of delivery for this training is ONLINE by the use of ZOOM application as a virtual platform created by the organizer, through a series of lectures facilitated by PowerPoint presentations, assignments, and Q/A discussions.
NEA President for Bagmati Province Mr. Nanda Banjade highlighted the NEA efforts conducted in Bagmati Province and claimed this activity yet another such effort.
The Opening session was chaired by Business Committee Chair Mr. Arjun Poudel.
The session was facilitated by Member Secretary of the Business Committee Mr. Sharad Pandit.
There are total 45 participants selected from google form registration. Considering large number of interested applicants, more than 400, the organizers are exploring possibility to continue next episodes soon.
There are 7 instructors from NSET involved in conducting the course. At the end of Day1, Instructor Dr. Ramesh Guragain responded to the queries in Q/A session.
