Rapid Damage Assessment of Buildings (RDAT 1001) trainings organized in Kathmandu
Two One-Day Trainings on Rapid Damage Assessment of Buildings (RDAT 1001) were organized in Kathmandu by British Embassy Kathmandu in the month of December. National Society for Earthquake Technology Nepal (NSET) provided technical support for the trainings. The first one held on Dec 14 was conducted virtually while the second one was held on Dec 17 in person at the Embassy.
Speaking on the closing sessions of each of the training days, Deputy Head of Mission, Mr. Edward Roberts and Head of Corporate Services, Mr. Prayas Bista congratulated all the participants and thanked NSET for continued support for conducting the trainings and expressed their delight that the series had been another useful step in building capacity of the personnel involved.
A total of 18 participants were trained in the series, which was the second one within this year organized by the British Embassy and technically support by NSET-Nepal. Personnel from British Embassy Kathmandu and the Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office participated in the training which included executive, administrative, program, financial and corporate level professionals, estate officers, members of the technical staff and security personnel.
Dr. Narayan P Marasini, Director of School Earthquake Safety Program and Ms. Hima Shrestha, Earthquake Risk Reduction Expert at NSET-Nepal who were present in the closing ceremonies expressed their delight at being able to provide support for training the in-house staff and other personnel from the Embassy and the FCDO, while continuing the long relationship with British Embassy Kathmandu.
The series was coordinated from the Embassy by Crisis Policy Advisor at British Embassy Kathmandu, Mr. Pradeep Ghimire and the course was coordinated by Mr. Vibek Manandhar from NSET-Nepal. The instructors’ team of structural engineers from the Earthquake Engineering Research and Training Division at NSET-Nepal comprised of Mr. Vibek Manandhar, Mr. Rabin Chaulagain and Mr. Prayash Malla.
