National Meeting of CityNet Nepal National Chapter (CNNC) held in Dhangadhi


The national meeting of CityNet Nepal National Chapter (CNNC) has been organized in Dhangadhi city in Nepal during 3-4 March 2023. 

The meeting was conducted in two parts, wherein, the first part was a formal and second part was technical session where presentations and discussions were held. The meeting was chaired by Mayor Mina Kumari Lama from Hetauda city where Mayor Chiribabu Maharjan from Lalitpur city who is also a member of CityNet Executive Committee delivered inaugural remarks as Chief Guest. Mayor Gopal Hamal from Dhangadhi city extended warm welcome to all the participants. In the technical session, the presentations were made from Tansen Municipality, Town Development Fund, CityNet and NSET; on which participants put forward their comments and additional ideas.

The 2-day meeting has discussed and made decisions on the statute of the CNNC, fund establishment, operation and management procedures, and membership criteria. 

The meeting has formed an ad-hoc committee of CNNC and nominated Hetauda Sub-Metropolitan City as Chair and Tansen Municipality as General Secretary. Pokhara Metropolitan City, Bharatpur Metropolitan City, Birgunj Metropolitan City, Butwal Sub-Metropolitan City, Dhangadhi Sub-Metropolitan City, Godawari Municipality and Town Development Fund (TDF) are designated as committee members. 

The meeting was organized by CityNet Nepal National Chapter (CNNC) in coordination with Hetauda Sub-Metropolitan City, Tansen Municipality and NSET. Dhangadhi Sub-Metropolitan City hosted the meeting.

There were 72 participants including mayors, deputy mayors, chief administrative officers or Associate Members from Kathmandu Metropolitan City, Pokhara Metropolitan City, Bharatpur Metropolitan City Birgunj Metropolitan City, Biratnagar Metropolitan City and other Sub-Metropolitan Cities and Municipalities.

The next meeting of the CNNC will be after 6 monthes hosted by Biratnagar Metropolitan City, while NSET will serve as the Secretariat of CNNC for the period. 

CityNet was established in 1987, currently, CityNet has 154 cities and organizations associated as Full, Associate and Corporate members. CityNet Nepal Chapter (CNNC) was established in 2002.
