Humanitarian Partnership Platform organizes tabletop simulation exercises
A tabletop simulation exercise has been organized by Humanitarian Partnership Platform (HPP) based on an Emergency Preparedness and Response Plan drafted by HPP in Kanchanpur of Sudurpaschim Province in June 2023.
The main objective of the tabletop exercise was to foster coordination among the organizations so that they could act accordingly whenever there is disaster or emergency. In addition to this, it was also to collect suggestions and feedback on the draft Emergency Preparedness and Response Plan developed by HPP.
The HPP is a common platform for a total of 12 organizations working in the field of humanitarian aid in Lumbini Province and Sudur Paschim Province. They are National Environment and Equity Development Society (NEEDS), Conscious Society for Social Development (CSSD), Kamaiya Mahila Jagaran Samaj Nepal (KMJS), Bheri Environmental Excellence Group (BEE Group), National Alliance for Human Rights Defenders (NAWHRD) on behalf of tarangini foundation, Nepal Mahila Ekata Samaj (NMES), Community Rural Development Society Nepal (CRDS Nepal), Human Welfare & Environmental Protection Center (HWEPC), Federation of Community Forestry Users, Nepal (FECOFEN), National farmers group federation (NFGF), National Society for Earthquake Technology –Nepal (NSET) and Feminist Dalit Organization (FEDO). In coordination with CARE Nepal, HPP started in 2021 with 5 different organizations working within Kanchanpur of Sudurpaschim Province.
The secretariat of the HPP is NEEDS Nepal and it is situated in Kanchanpur, Sudurpaschim Province. HPP is to provide humanitarian assistance in emergency situations, process the humanitarian aid to work faster, in an organized way, unified way based on core humanitarian standards.
Different individuals from different organizations took part in the simulation and acted accordingly. A scenario of flooding was created within the provinces where the organizations worked and injects regarding different situations like the damage caused by flood in agriculture and houses, deaths of humans as well as animals was shared among the group.
NSET technically supported the different organizations in a tabletop simulation exercise creating a scenario and passing injects to all the organizations to work accordingly to their strength. The tabletop exercise was appreciated by all the organizations present with HPP.
