DRM Planning Workshop in Dharan
NSET has this week been facilitating a DRM planning workshop in Dharan Municipality. Dharan, like all of Nepal, is prone to earthquakes, being severely affected in the 1988 Udaypur earthquake. Flash floods, fires and other hazards also occur regularly in the city. To more comprehensively prevent, prepare, respond to and recover from these hazards NSET is assisting the Municipality to develop a Local Disaster Risk Management Plan and form a Local Disaster Management Committee. These activities will help the Municipality and other local stakeholders better manage the risks from earthquakes and other disasters.
