Dr. Amod Mani Dixit

Dr. Amod Mani Dixit is a renowned earthquake engineer, geologist, and disaster risk management expert with over five decades of experience. He holds a Ph.D. from Ehime University, Japan, along with advanced degrees from Russia and Thailand, and additional training from Stanford University. A founding member of NSET, he served as its Executive Director for 25 years and currently serves as its President, having also held the role of General Secretary.  

He is one of the founders of the Asian Disaster Reduction and Response Network (ADRRN) which he chaired during 2017-2024 while serving in its Board since its inception. He founded the National Society for Earthquake technology Nepal (NSET) and serves currently as its President.  

Mr. Shreeram Singh Basnet

Shreeram Singh Basnet is a veteran Nepali journalist, media educator, and disaster risk reduction (DRR) communication specialist with over four decades of experience. He is the former General Manager of Rastriya Samachar Samiti (RSS), Founder and Executive Director of Media Point, and a Founder Executive Member of the National Society for Earthquake Technology–Nepal (NSET). An accomplished author, trainer, and international speaker, he has made significant contributions to disaster journalism, media development, and public awareness through his publications, training, and participation in regional and global DRR initiatives. 

Mr. Surya Prasad Acharya

Mr. Acharya is a Civil Engineer with extensive experience in earthquake-resistant construction, structural design, capacity building, and post-earthquake reconstruction. He has worked on the design, supervision, and implementation of resilient infrastructure projects and has contributed to developing training curricula for engineers, technicians, masons, and government officials. His expertise includes seismic vulnerability assessment, safer building construction, technical training, and project management across Nepal and Pakistan 

Mr. Surya Bhakta Sangachhe

Mr. Sangachhe is a Senior Urban Planner with more than 40 years of experience in urban planning, risk-sensitive land use planning (RSLUP), building code implementation, urban development, and disaster resilience. A former Director General of the Department of Urban Development and Building Construction (DUDBC), he has played a pivotal role in developing urban planning policies, municipal building by-laws, and land pooling initiatives in Nepal. He currently serves as the Treasurer of the NSET and also provides strategic leadership and technical guidance on resilient urban development, local governance, and disaster risk reduction initiatives.  

Mr. Kalyan Bista

Kalyan Bista is an administration and disaster risk management (DRM) professional with an MBA and a Postgraduate Diploma in Disaster Management (PGDDM). He has extensive experience in institutional development, project management, donor coordination, and organizational administration. Throughout his career, he has led administrative systems, project operations, partnership management, and organizational capacity strengthening for major disaster risk reduction initiatives. His expertise includes strategic planning, proposal development, stakeholder coordination, organizational management, and administrative leadership for nationally and internationally funded projects. 

Mrs. Hima Shrestha

Hima Gurubacharya (Shrestha) is a Structural Engineer with over 20 years of experience in earthquake engineering, school safety, disaster risk reduction, and capacity development. As the former Director of the Earthquake Engineering, Research and Training Division at NSET, she led major national and international initiatives on seismic resilience, school disaster risk management, building retrofitting, and post-earthquake reconstruction. She has extensive expertise in developing training curricula, technical guidelines, and earthquake-resistant construction practices, and has provided technical leadership and capacity-building support across Nepal, Bhutan, Pakistan, Iran, and Bangladesh. 

Dr. Binod Shrestha

Binod Shrestha is a Geotechnical and Civil Engineer with extensive experience in earthquake-resistant construction, geotechnical engineering, disaster risk reduction, and capacity building. He has led numerous training programs for engineers, technicians, masons, teachers, and communities on safer construction and earthquake preparedness. He has also contributed to curriculum development, seismic vulnerability assessments, and earthquake reconstruction initiatives in Nepal and Pakistan, while supporting school safety and community resilience programs.
