Staff of Spaces Magazine oriented
NSET orients media personnel and staff from Impressions Publishing Private Limited (Spaces Magazine) on "Earthquake Risk in Nepal and the Need for Preparedness" The Orientation program was facilitated at Spaces magazine's office in Chakupat Lalitpur on the 7th of July 2014 by NSET's Senior Technical Advisor, Mr. Surya Bhakata Sangachhen. Mr. Sangacheen provided information about what to do before, during and after earthquakes. He focused on non-structural mitigation as well as earthquake-resistant buildings. The ten participants raised many queries. Anu Rajbansh, the Head of Administration for Spaces Magazine shared her experiences from past earthquakes and she asked about how to keep safe from the non-structural materials. Likewise, Ashesh Rajbansh, the CEO of Spaces Magazine, also shared his experiences related to earthquakes and inquired about vulnerability assessment, retrofitting, Go Bags and household kits. Hemanta Shrestha, a Spaces Magazine photojournalist, asked about what to do when earthquake shaking occurs if you are driving. Other participants also asked about earthquake-resistant construction. Mr. Sangachhen clearly and succinctly summarized all the key issues within the one-hour orientation program. All the participants said they benefited from the program and that they were committed to sharing their new knowledge with their family members, friends and the community.
