9th Asia Conference on Earthquake Engineering (9ACEE)
The 9th Asia Conference on Earthquake Engineering (9ACEE) will take place in Kathmandu, Nepal from 4-6 May, 2026. 8th ACEE held in Taipei in November 2022 decided to organize the 9th ACEE in Nepal and the National Society for Earthquake Technology Nepal to host the next event in Kathmandu. A follow up meeting in 2025 involving senior members of ACEE and NSET confirmed the general approach and theme for the event. The meeting emphasized that 9ACEE should be able to give a distinct flavor of the excellent works in earthquake engineering, disaster risk reduction and reconstruction in Nepal and the Himalayas, on the top of reporting on the distinct progress made and lessons learned in the recent years in the entire Asia Pacific region.
The Asia Conference on Earthquake Engineering began in 2004 through the initiative of the Association of Structural Engineers of the Philippines. It was designed to provide a regional platform for researchers, academics, and practitioners to exchange knowledge and experiences in earthquake engineering. Over the years, ACEE has been held in several Asian cities including Manila, Bangkok, Cebu, and Taipei, with each edition attracting hundreds of participants and featuring a wide range of scientific contributions. The conference has steadily grown in scale and influence while complementing global events such as the World Conference on Earthquake Engineering.
9ACEE in Kathmandu aims to bring together experts from across the region to share new research findings, innovative practices, and collaborative approaches that can help reduce earthquake risk in Asia’s most vulnerable communities.
