17th ESD Press Meet held in DUDBC
Nepal is marking its 17th National Earthquake Safety Day (ESD) on 16th January, 2015. The National Earthquake Safety Day is a day to raise awareness and share information and experiences on disaster/earthquake risk reduction. There was a press meet conducted at the Department of Urban Development and Building Construction (DUDBC) on 8th January 2015. Mr. Shambhu KC, Director General of DUDBC, spelled out the press release and the Deputy Executive Director of National Society for Earthquake Technology-Nepal (NSET), Mr. Ramesh Guragain briefed the national program Schedule.
During the press meet journalist from various main stream media put the queries in front of the organizing committee. Mr Shambhu KC & Mr. Ramesh Gurrgain clearly responded the queries of the journalists. Finally Organizing committee MoHA, DUDBC and NSET laid out the main events of ESD. The organizing committee briefed about the local level programs and events during the ESD.
The press meet gathered more than 25 journalists from different media houses. The ESD (16th January 2015) is basically the culmination of earthquake risk management works implemented in the country in the preceding 12 months, thus allows taking stock of the achievements and shortcomings.
