To elevate the level of public awareness, perception and attitude towards earthquake risks as well as to poke deeper into their conscience to do the needful preparedness and safety activities before it is too late, an Earthquake Safety Rally was organized as part of the 17th Earthquake Safety Day in Kirtipur area today.
Amidst a large audience, the Honorable Home Minister and Deputy Prime Minister Mr. Bamdev Gautam who leads 17th Earthquake Safety Day Committee inaugurated the Earthquake Safety Rally by cutting the ribbon. The rally was then joined by nearly 2,000 walkers from various sectors of society including, Government, Community Groups, Police, Army, NGOs, INGOs, Scouts, Students, Volunteers, Participants, Businesses, Local Groups and many more. It was encouraging to see various organizations joining hands and coming together to exhibit their institutional, personal as well as community level commitments to earthquake safety, awareness raising and preparedness initiatives.
Starting from Panga Dobato, the rally walked across Sundar Bazar, Krishna Cinema Hall, Chikhu, Nagaun, Nagaun Dobato, Nayabazar, Loktantrik Chowk and finally gathered at Kirtipur Football Ground for the National Earthquake Safety Day Meeting.
