Kalinchowk FM celebrates 9th Anniversary, partners’ support acknowledged
Kalinchowk FM 106.4 MHz, Dolakha celebrated 9th Annivarsy on November 7, 2015 with varieties of programs. To continue with past trend, the radio celebrated this episode in Jilu, Tahale some 7 Km. out of district headquarters with ″Free Dental Clinic″ and honoring local farmers and entrepreneurs. On the occasion, Kalinchowk FM felicitated Mr. Gopal Guragain from Ujyaalo Networks, Mr. Kedar Khadka from GOGo Foundation and Mr. Khadga Sen Oli from NSET for their institutional and personal contribution towards enhancing activities of the radio.
Kalinchowk FM has remained a long time partner of NSET on promoting #EarthquakeSafety and #DisasterRiskManagement at the community level. In addition to common menu of community radios, Kalinchowk FM is airing regular program and messages on Earthquake Safety in partnership with NSET since 2011 under the USAID funded program #3PERM.
In post Gorkha Earthquake situations, the media role played by Kalinchowk FM radio in the localities of Dolakha district where there were many epicenters of aftershocks have been very much appreciated. The radio could continue operating even at the most adverse situations and served community people with many needy and prompt information in close coordination with local authorities, NSET and many humanitarian agencies. The radio has been covering various issues of local concerns ranging from local to national and global contexts such as issues on socio-polity, good governance, agriculture, climate change, earthquaked safety and many others.
Kalinchowk FM is the first community radio in Dolakha district operated by youth group of journalists and social activits with the goal of promoting awarenss for making civilized society through advocacy. Nepal is very rich in community radio practice where there are around 350 radios tuning and contributing at the communities in this small country.
