BCIPN: MASON TRAINING CONDUCTED IN BHADRAPUR
A 5 days Mason Training course on “Earthquake Resistant Building Construction” started today in Bhadrapur Municipality. Total 33 masons from Bhadrapur Municipality, Garamuni V.D.C. and areas nearby are participating in the training activity.
The training program has been jointly organized by Bhadrapur Municipality and NSET under “Building Code Implementation Program in Municipalities of Nepal (BCIPN)” – a USAID/OFDA funded program. This is the fourth edition of mason training conducted in Bhadrapur Municipality and about 100 trained masons are already produced in the municipality till date.
While at the opening session, Santosh Ghimire, Executive Officer of Bhadrapur Municipality briefed on the responsibility of mason and administration themselves. Arjun Ghimire, Civil Engineer from NSET highlighted the objectives and necessity of mason training and role of mason for the successful implementation of Building Code.
BCIPN is NSET implemented and USAID/OFDA funded program to provide necessary support and technical assistance to municipalities in implementing the building code. The main goal of the program is to enhance earthquake resilience of communities of Nepal through compliance to and enforcement of the National Building Code. The program is implemented in close coordination with DUDBC and the municipalities.
