ENROLMENT PROCESS OF NRA BEGINS FROM SINGATI, DOLAKHA
The Enrolment Process of National Reconstruction Authority (NRA) for Housing Reconstruction assistance has begun from Singati, Dolakha with the first Participation Agreement between Jagat Bahadur Chettri, a local of Laduk-8, Dolakha and the Secretary of the same VDC Urmila Karki. Chief Executive Officer of NRA Mr. Sushil Gyewali handed the Agreement Letter to Mr. Chhetri. With this, Mr. Chettri has become the first registered beneficiary to receive housing grant support of Nepali Rupees 200,000 and also technical assistance. The beneficiaries are to receive grant amount in three tranches through banks.
Addressing the Commencement Ceremony, Chief Executive Officer of NRA Mr. Sushil Gyewali highlighted the process to proceed on for housing reconstruction. “It has been a good initiation from Singati and we seek the continuous support from locals, especially earthquake affected people and strong collaboration from local political parties”, Mr. Gyewali stated. NRA has started the enrolment process first with the affected families from Ward No. 6 of Lamidada VDC and Ward No. 8 of Laduk VDC. And the process is to proceed on in other villages and city areas of earthquake affected districts. NSET is assisting NRA in the locality on housing reconstruction through USAID funded program “Baliyo Ghar”. Many partner organizations are involved supporting NRA’s efforts on enrolment, banking and other technical aspects of housing reconstruction.
BaliyoGhar program is an initiative to support the Government of Nepal’s model of owner-driven housing reconstruction following the April 25, 2015 Gorkha Earthquake. “BaliyoGhar” program is being implemented in 13 VDCs and a Municipality in Dolakha and 10 each VDCs in Nuwakot and Dhading districts.
