Locals of Dolakha commit to implement the Building Codes

Focusing on earthquake safety measures and measures to build earthquake resilient houses NSET-BaliyoGhar has organised a one-day orientation program at Bhimesor Municipality-2, Dolakha.

In the program conducted at Bhim Higher Secondary School on 12th April, 2016, the participants from diverse background including masons, teachers, locals, representative of ward awareness centre committed to follow and implement the basic building codes of government in reconstructing housings.

Altogether thirty-one participants including nine females were oriented where they found to be excited about the awareness and training being provided by NSET-BaliyoGhar program in district. They committed to spread the message about the building of earthquake resistant houses in the Municipality.

During the discussion session, few participants suggested that if such orientation were organized before earthquake, more people would have been alive now. One of the participants shared, 'Usually most of the people panic during the earthquake and forget to follow the basic safety measures, which ultimately result into accidents. Now after the orientation, probably we could minimize the number of deaths and injuries.'

The session also motivated the mobilization of trained masons to build the earthquake resistant houses.
