"Know also the societal knowledge to deal in community"
Training of Trainers (ToT) on Earthquake Resistant Building Construction Technology has concluded at Reconstruction Technology Centre (RTC), Dolakha. The program was concluded in the presence of Division Chief Mr. Yek Raj Adhikari of Department of Urban Development and Building Construction (DUDBC), Dolakha. Thirty-three participants including two females from DUDBC, NSET-Baliyo Ghar and freelancers participated in seven days ToT program.
During the closing ceremony Division Chief Mr. Yek Raj Adhikari, shared, “We are in reconstruction phase after April and May Earthquake, so we are getting an opportunity to help the earthquake survivors. You all are equipped with the technical knowledge but should also know the societal knowledge to deal with the people in the community.”
Seven days program started on 30 May was focused to build the capacity of engineers to conduct mason trainings and provide technical supports to community peoples at the grass root level to build the earthquake resistant buildings and assist the on-going reconstruction program in the district. The presentations from instructors, practical session, group discussion, individual sharing were carried out during the program.
ToT was organized by NSET-BaliyoGhar in collaboration with DUDBC division office, Dolakha. USAID funded #BaliyoGhar program is an initiative to support the Government of Nepal’s model of owner-driven housing reconstruction following the Gorkha Earthquake. NSET is providing technical assistance to 13 VDCs and 1 Municipality in Dolakha district for safe reconstruction through #BaliyoGhar Program.
