23rd NSET Day marked | NSET roles in Housing Reconstruction discoursed
NSET has completed 23 years of its mission. It’s the journey to help build earthquake/disaster resilient communities in Nepal. 23rd NSET Day marked on June 18, 2016 to reaffirm commitment to promoting earthquake safety in Nepal and also contribute to the region. Programs comprised of in-house sharing and learning processes held for the first time simultaneously in four places. NSET Board members and Staff grouped at NSET Office and also in the districts; Dolakha, Nuwakot and Dhading where NSET is implementing reconstruction focused “Baliyo Ghar” program with the support from USAID/Nepal. NSET efforts on housing reconstruction hugely discoursed in view of needs to address and preliminary experiences. As set in NSET Day Menu, Ignite sessions conducted to share on current status and future plans of various NSET divisions and programs. Brief formal segment followed then to mark the Day. Also an exercise “Express Out” brainstormed discussing more on critical issues and way forward. The Day’s proceedings concluded with in-house cultural performances and creative presentations.

23rd NSET Day marked at NSET Office with set of program activities. Program started with the National Anthem sung by NSET troupe. NSET Board Member Mr. Varun Prasad Shrestha, in his congratulatory message highlighted the NSET journey efforts and achievements. Then, ignite presentations were made by the different departments of NSET. NSET Board Member Mr. Manohar Rajbhandari shared his views and experiences towards working for risk reduction. Finance Director Mr. Tika Sharma extended vote of thanks after the completion of the formal program.
Following formal program, NSET family members enjoyed cultural program with in house performances. NSET Deputy Executive Director Dr. Ramesh Guragain concluded the 23rd NSET Day with an appeal to pay yet more team efforts to translate NSET mission into action.
23rd NSET Day marked in Dhading
NSET Day 2016 marked in Dhading, one of the BaliyoGhar program districts amongst the NSET staff from Head Office and Field teams. The program started with Ignite session initiated with presentation by NSET Executive Director Dr. Amod Mani Dixit on NSET endevors and way future plans. Representatives from respective NSET Divisions and Programs/Projects followed in the session.
Formal program to mark the Day started with National Anthem by NSET Troupe and a Shubhakamana Song. NSET Executive Director Dr. Amod Mani Dixit welcomed the guests, congratulated the NSET family members and highlighted the milestones of NSET journey and its path ahead. Noted littérateur Dr. Dhuva Chandra Gautam graced the occasions as Chief Guest. Dr. Gautam appreciated NSET considerations to value and include literary and creative ideas in-built in NSET Campaigns on earthquake safety promotions. As a Special Guest Mr. Ravindra Lal Mul, Municipal Engineer from Vyas Municipality wished NSET to be able to better serve Nepali communities. Guests Mr. Krishna Kumar Shrestha from District Education Office and Station Manager Mr. Rajaram Sharma from Dhading Community Radio briefed post-earthquake situation in the district. To proceed on, NSET Troupe presented popular Earthquake Song written by Poet Laureate Madhav Prasad Ghimire and music composed by Great Music Composer Ambar Gurung. Coupel of poetic creations by NSET staff shared on the occasion. NSET Advocacy Manager Mr. Khadga Sen Oli extended vote of thanks and the formal segment concluded.
Next executed Express Out Workshop where participants got divided for group works for NSET SWOT Analysis and Way Forward. Last segment as set was Cultural Show where NSET Staff performed songs, dances and literary recitals.
Earlier, a meeting held with a group of noted writers and representatives from literary societies from the district. NSET team from Head Office also visited earthquake hit areas of Bhulbhule and also location considered for establishing Local Reconstruction Technology Center under BaliyoGhar program at Kumpur village near Gajuri.

NSET Day 2016 marked in Nuwakot, another BaliyoGhar program district amongst the NSET staff from Head Office and Field teams. Day started with Ignite Session initiated by presentation by NSET Director Mr. Ganesh Kumar Jimee, and followed by representatives of NSET Divisions and programs. The formal program started with the National Anthem and Subhakamana song. NSET Board Member Mr. Shreeram Singh Basnet shared keynote speech highlighting the NSET accomplishments. Mr. Basnet recalled the struggles and experiences of NSET as a team during this long journey of 22 years. At the end of formal program, NSET Baliyo Ghar Nuwakot Chorus Group performed Bhuichalo song, a lyrics by Poet Laureate Madhav Prasad Ghimire and composed by Senior Music Composer Ambar Gurung.
Then followed Express Out workshop where five different groups presented their expectations, experiences, personal and professional challenges and problems along with the learnings throughout their working tenure. After the workshop, cultural program began with the documentary prepared by urban mobile team followed by poems, dance performances and Dohori song in which one group represented community people and another group represented Baliyo Ghar Team. And the program concluded.

NSET Day 2016 marked in Dolakha, another BaliyoGhar program district amongst the NSET staff from Head Office and Field teams. The program was divided into formal presentation including ignite presentation, mini work shop followed by cultural program. Formal session started with welcome note and highlights on NSET plan and programs by NSET Deputy Executive Director Mr. Surya Narayan Shrestha. The occasion was graced by Chief District Officer Mr. Pushpa Raj Shahi as a Chief Guest. In his address, Mr. Shahi congratulated NSET and also highlighted reconstruction needs in the district. DUDBC Engineer Ms. Mahalaxmi Shakya, Bhimeshwor Municipality Engineers Mr. Ramji Thapa and Bhabindra Thapa congratulated and wished for the NSET efforts to expand and grow better. The formal program was concluded by District Co-ordinator, Dolakha Mr. Achyut Paudel with Vote of Thanks to all the guests of program, staff and other well-wisher of NSET.

The program was concluded with commitment to meet the emerging demand of technical assistant-ship during reconstruction phase and goal to Earthquake Safe Communities in Nepal by 2020.
