USAID Mission Director and Team interact with NSET team
USAID Mission Director for Nepal Mr. Peter Malnak visited NSET Office and learned about ongoing US Government supported DRR/Reconstruction programs implemented by NSET. A team from Disaster Risk Reduction, Reconstruction, and Resilience (DR4) Office of USAID Nepal joined in sharing meeting.
In Post-Gorkha Earthquake situation, NSET is providing technical assistance for safer reconstruction in Dolakha, Dhading and Nuwakot districts under USAID Nepal funded Baliyo Ghar program. Based on past experiences and also as per the post-earthquake needs, various training curricula have been reviewed and developed. Two Guidelines in regard to Mason Trainings have been developed and approved by Nepal Government.
Baliyo Ghar program has conducted Training of Trainers (ToT) and total 157 Instructors have been developed for conducting Masons Trainings. Total 903 number of Construction Workforce have been trained who will be engaged in reconstruction works mainly in rural areas and district headquarters. Also with the view to support reconstruction processes to take pace in organized and informed ways, 124 Social Mobilizers have been trained. Baliyo Ghar program has also provided technical assistance to train engineering professionals newly recruited by Nepal Government and deputed to earthquake affected districts, total 2635 Government Officials have got orientation on reconstruction processes and ideas.
Also, NSET has been working in 30 Municipalities to support for the effective enforcement of building codes under the USAID/OFDA funded program BCIPN. NSET has been implementing Program for Enhancement of Emergency Response (PEER) Stage 4 in South Asia region as well.
