Fifth Mason ToT for DLPIU technical professional started at Dolakha
32 DLPIU technical professional of Dolakha are participating in 7-Day Training of Trainers (ToT) on Earthquake Resistant Building Construction Technology. The training aims to enhance the technical aspects of earthquake resistant building and methodologies to conduct the mason training at the respective working areas to produce the skilful masons.
31 engineers and 1 sub engineers working at different VDCs of Dolakha are taking part at the training. This is the fifth course conducted under BaliyoGhar and second training for the DLPIU professionals of Dolakha. The training started on Sept 28, 2016 and continues till October 4, 2016.
Dolakha being the epicentre of the 12 May earthquake, caused widespread damage to the area. Altogether 50,214 houses were fully damaged, whereas 305 houses were partially damaged. Till now, only 3% houses are built at Dolakha District.
The training course has been jointly organized by National Reconstruction Authority (NRA), Ministry of Urban Development Department, facilitated by District Level Program Implementation Unit (DLPIU), technical support by National Society for Earthquake Technology (NSET) with the funding support from United States Agency for International Development (USAID).
USAID funded #BaliyoGhar program is an initiative to support the Government of Nepal’s model of owner-driven housing reconstruction following the Gorkha Earthquake. NSET is providing technical assistance to 13 VDCs and 1 Municipality in Dolakha district for safe reconstruction through #BaliyoGhar Program. Earlier NSET-Baliyo Ghar Program has organized four Mason ToT in June, August and September respectively.
