Group of trainees from The Chinese University of Hong Kong visit NSET and learn about its works
A group of trainees from The Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) on April 16, 2017 visited National Society for Earthquake Technology-Nepal (NSET) and learned about NSET works on various facets of Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR).
Collaborating Centre for Oxford University and CUHK for Disaster and Medical Humanitarian Response (CCOUC) visited NSET on 16th April 2017. CCOUC has been established by the joint effort of Oxford University and The Chinese University of Hong Kong as a non-profit research centre to carry out research, training and community knowledge transfer in the area of disaster and medical humanitarian response in Greater China and the Asia-Pacific Region since April 2011.
Dr. Amod Mani Dixit, Executive Director of NSET made gave a glimpse of NSET journey and its ongoing programs. NSET Professionals made brief presentations on NSET implemented programs School Earthquake Safety program (SESP) and Building Code Implementation Program in municipalities of Nepal (BCIPN) program. Then followed active interaction between the visiting group and NSET professionals.
Collaborating Centre for Oxford University and CUHK for Disaster and Medical Humanitarian Response (CCOUC) has been established by the joint effort of Oxford University and The Chinese University of Hong Kong as a non-profit research centre to carry out research, training and community knowledge transfer in the area of disaster and medical humanitarian response in Greater China and the Asia-Pacific Region since April 2011. CCOUC team has been visiting Nepal since June 2015 for needs assessment after the earthquake and organised the training trip for trainers last year. This year, 7 trainees with the background of Public Health and Medicine as well as 3 trainers (academics and clinicals) are visiting Nepal to conduct research and training with various communities in Nepal.
