Homestay host families in Kaulepani Village of Lamjung district oriented on Earthquake Safety and Disaster Preparedness
Homestay host families in Kaulepani Village of Lamjung district have got basic orientation on earthquake safety and disaster preparedness. NSET Executive Director Dr. Amod Mani Dixit and Advocacy Manager Mr. Khadga Sen Oli made presentations on information and ideas about hazards and risks that local communities are to deal with and also on risk reduction measures to adopt for securing their lives and livelihoods.
To start with, Chairperson of Homestay Group Mr. Dev Gurung briefly explained about the locality and special features of Kaulepani homestay. The touristic village of Kaulepani in Lamjung district is emerging model homestay tourism destination in the country. Kaulepani was declared as the Best Home-stay Tourism Village in 2014 on the occasion of the 35th World Tourism Day.
President of Radio Marshyangdi, Lamjung Mr. Gam Prasad Gurung and Station Manager Ms. Meena Gurung highlighted the purpose and importance of the activity. Community Radio Marshyangdi 95MHz organized the event together with Beshishahar Municipality, Lamjung and in association with Gaunshahar Kaulepani Tourism Promotion Committee. The radio is marking its 11 years of establishment and Anniversary with various social activities including awareness campaigns in communities, poetry & art contests and public discourses. Radio Marshyangdi and NSET have been working jointly on helping raise public awareness on risk reduction & preparedness since 2011.
Kaulepani Village Homestay in Nepal can be one of the unforgettable moment of life. It is about seven kilometers drive from the district headquarters Beshisahar and at an altitude of 1,600 meters from the sea level. Visitors can get a breath-taking sight of sun-rise as well as 14 Himalayan peaks as Buddha, Machhapuchchhre, Manaslu and Annapurna from this place.
Earlier, Dr. Dixit and NSET team had meetings with Local District Officer & District Coordination Committee; Executive Officer of Beshishahar Municipality & Municipality team; and Radio Marshyangdi team separately at their respective offices.
