Teacher's Seminar and Model Classes on Disaster Education held at Nuwakot
A teacher's seminar on Disaster Education was held at Rukmani Secondary School, Samundrataar, Dupcheswor Rural Municipality on 27th February 2018.
A total of 16 school teachers and the Resource Person of Dupcheswor Rural Municipality actively participated in the teacher's seminar which was held for the strengthening of disaster education in the model schools.
Speaking on the occasion, the District Education Officer of Nuwakot, Mr. Chandra Bahadur Khadka expressed that this project has helped in spreading disaster education in some of the most remote areas of Nuwakot and that the practical methods involved in this kind of sharing experience is very helpful in academics.
The seminar was jointly organized by NSET and Team Hyogo in coordination with the District Education Office, Nuwakot.
Similarly, Disaster Education Model Classes were given to 25 students from class eight and nine of Ghyangphedi Basic School. An earthquake evacuation drill was also carried out at Ghyangphedi Basic School. According to the students, such kind of drill was conducted at the school for the first time. More than 80 members of the Ghyangphedi community were killed in the 2015 earthquake, and every single building, including all schools and health facilities, were destroyed. The Ghyangphedi Basic School is now functioning well with a newly built school building and a new enthusiasm on making the community aware about disasters.
