MoHA-GoN leads Nepal Emergency Response Stakeholders Meeting
The Ministry of Home Affairs-Government of Nepal led and hosted Nepal Emergency Response Stakeholders Meeting today, June 7, 2018, at MoHA, Singha Durbar, Kathmandu. The meeting today discussed the existing capacities, broader need and strategies for enhancing the emergency response capacities of Nepal, within the present federal system of government structure. There were 25 participants in the meeting, representing MoHA, Nepalese Army, Nepal Police, Armed Police Force, Nepal Red Cross Society, USAID Nepal and National Society for Earthquake Technology-Nepal (NSET). This meeting was an offshoot of the PEER Nepal Progress Review Meeting held on May 6, 2018, in Kurintar, Chitwan.
Mr. Kedar Neupane, Joint Secretary, Ministry of Home Affairs, emphasized the importance of having a standard training curricula appropriate for Nepal context in developing emergency responders.
NSET, through Program for Enhancement of Emergency Response (PEER), provided support to this meeting. USAID/OFDA has been funding PEER in Asia since 1998.
