Nepal Geological Congress 2018 held, NSET research works & experiences also presented
The Ninth Nepal Geological Congress has been held in Kathmandu during Nov 19-21, 2018. Vice President of Federal Republic of Nepal Rt. Honorable Nanda Bahadur Pun ‘Pasang’ inaugurated the Congress. The conference was conducted in the collaboration with different Departments of Government, Tribhuvan University, NSET and partners.
Conference was divided into three sessions; Keynote Presentation and Invited Lecture Session as a starter and Parallel Technical Sessions along with poster presentations. Total 400 participants from 15 countries, including Nepal participated the conference. Altogether there were 90 oral and 42 poster presentations. The conference included 13 different Technical sessions and 1 interdisciplinary/miscellaneous sessions.
There were 12 participants from NSET. Following four technical presentations were made from NSET.
• Nepal, a multi-hazard risk country: Spatio-temporal analysis by Mr. Ganesh Kumar Jimee
• Laboratory experimental test on low strength stone masonry building of Nepal to understand their seismic behavior by Ms. Rajani Prajapati
• Socio-technical module in assistance: promoting resilient reconstruction in wake of disaster by Mr. Ayush Baskota
• Urban Resilience of Nepal: A Coordinated Effort of Multiple Constituents by Mr. Suman Pradhan
The Closing Ceremony of the conference was conducted in the presence of Honorable Chief Guest, Minister Matrika Prasad Yadav, Ministry of Industry, Commerce and Supplies, Govt. of Nepal. In the closing ceremony, Mr. Avani Mani Dixit was honored for establishing “Padmamod Scholarship”.
