Mid-Western University, Birendra Nagar Municipality and NSET sign MoU to work together on Earthquake Risk Management
With view to work jointly on various aspects of earthquake risk reduction initiatives in Western Nepal, a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) has been signed by Mid-Western University, Birendra Nagar Municipality and NSET on February 10, 2019.
At a brief ceremony held at Mid-Western University, Prof. Dr. Upendra Koirala, Vice Chancellor of Mid-Western University, Mr. Dev Kumar Subedi, Mayor of Birebdra Nagar Municipality and Mr. Surya Narayan Shrestha, Executive Director of NSET signed the MoU.
As per the agreement, these organizations will jointly work on research works and study on Earthquake Risk and Risk Reduction, promotion of awareness on various aspects of earthquake risk management, trainings and capacity enhancement of construction stakeholders on safer construction among others.
The MoU has also identified lists of sectors, roles and responsibilities of each of the organizations and agreed to share the knowledge, skills and information among the organizations in regard to earthquake risk management and risk reduction activities in western region of the country.
