Mr. Shrestha is the Executive Director of NSET and a structural engineer with over 20 years of experience in earthquake engineering, disaster risk reduction, and post-disaster reconstruction. He holds a Master’s degree in Structural Engineering and has led major programs across Asia and Africa, including in Nepal, Pakistan, Indonesia, and Mozambique. Mr. Shrestha has spearheaded initiatives such as the School Earthquake Safety Program, community-based disaster risk management, and capacity building for emergency response. He also served as Technical Advisor to Nepal’s National Reconstruction Authority and sits on the Governing Board of the Global Earthquake Model (GEM) Foundation.

Dr. Gopi Krishna Basyal is a geographer specializing in HVRA & management. His focus is mainly on initiatives to enhance landslide preparedness, early warning, and community-based risk reduction among vulnerable communities. His work focuses on integrating scientific understanding with local action to reduce consequences from landslides and strengthen resilience at municipal and community levels. Currently, he leads the Multi-Hazard Risk Assessment and Planning (MHRAP) Division of NSET. He holds PhD. degree from Durham University, UK.

Ms. Rajani Prajapati, a Structural Engineer, works as a manager in the Communication and Knowledge Management Division of NSET. With over 13 years of experience, she specializes in program management and coordination with a strong technical foundation in disaster risk reduction, earthquake-resistant building design and retrofitting, seismic assessments and risk assessments and construction quality control. She is also skilled in developing guidelines and training materials and conducting training for engineers and technicians.

Ms. Kirty Tiwari, a structural engineer with a master’s degree, has 15 years of experience in structural design, seismic assessment, and retrofitting. As Manager at NSET, she leads earthquake resilience projects, develops training materials, and promotes innovations like low-cost base isolation. She has retrofitted over 100 buildings and contributes to safer, inclusive, and resilient infrastructure in Nepal.

Dr. Chaudhary, having a highly skilled Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Professional with more than 15 Years of Experience on Climate Change, Disaster Risk Reduction, and Emergency Response, Geographic Information System (GIS) and Remote Sensing (RS). Dr. Chaudhary completed his PhD in physical geography from the Institute of Mountain Hazards and Environment (IMHE), Chengdu, China.

Rita Thakuri is a seasoned DRR professional with 20+ years in disaster risk reduction and non-profit management. As Network Coordinator of ADRRN, she fosters collaboration across Asia-Pacific to strengthen disaster and climate resilience. She manages the SIDRRA project with IRC and DN, promoting locally led climate actions. Also serving as Executive Secretary at NSET-Nepal, she excels in community engagement and capacity building. Rita holds dual master’s degrees and is recognized as a Young Scientist by IRDR.

Ms. Tamang is a Senior Program Officer (Learning and Outreach) at NSET. She has worked in various capacities such as project administration, GESI, MEL, Communication, and business development. She holds a Master’s in Business Studies from Tribhuvan University and is currently pursuing a second Master’s in Development Studies at Kathmandu University. She is also working with the Asian Disaster Reduction and Response Network (ADRRN), where she oversees membership-related tasks as well as other administrative and management work.

Mr. Malla works as a Structural Engineer for Safer Schools, Critical Facilities and Heritage at NSET since 2018. He holds a Master’s Degree in Structural Engineering from IOE, Tribhuvan University. Proficient in structural dynamics, finite element analysis, structural health monitoring, and construction quality control, he has extensive experience in structural design, seismic vulnerability and damage assessment, retrofit design, mitigation of non-structural risks, multi-hazard risk assessment, and training program development and delivery.

Rachana Tuladhar is working as Sr. Draftsperson / DRR Officer in Safer School, Critical Facilities and Heritage division. Ms. Tuladhar has over 26 years of experience in preparation of architectural and structural drawings, retrofit drawings, conceptual 3D drawings, Emergency Evacuation Plans, etc. She is PEER certified graduate of disaster preparedness and response related training and also an instructor for disaster related Community based trainings. She holds Bachelor degree in Business Studies and Diploma in Architectural Engineering.
